Nikki Glaser Gears Up to Host the 2025 Golden Globes Amid Health Challenges

Comedian Nikki Glaser is preparing to host the 2025 Golden Globes for the first time, an exciting yet daunting task that she is taking seriously. As she gets ready for the spotlight, her health has also been at the forefront of her mind. In a light-hearted remark to The New York Times, Glaser expressed her biggest concerns about the event, joking, “The worst thing that could happen is if I faint or have some kind of stroke.” Nevertheless, she feels confident in her preparation, having utilized two writing teams and conducted 91 trial runs to perfect her monologue.

In a surprising announcement, Glaser revealed that she decided to postpone a scheduled surgery to focus on her hosting duties. The 40-year-old comedian was considering undergoing a brow lift or another invasive procedure in January but altered her plans after being encouraged by her agents. “They’re like, ‘So, this operation, is there any way you could push it ’til maybe the second week of January?'” she shared.

This isn’t Glaser’s first experience with surgery. In 2022, she postponed tour dates to undergo a procedure on her vocal cords, explaining via Instagram that her voice was “fried” and needed repair. She described the surgery as life-changing, although it required her to remain silent for 3-5 weeks during recovery.

In addition to her surgical history, Glaser has openly discussed her battles with eating disorders over the years. In a candid essay written for The Cut in 2022, she detailed a nearly two-decade struggle with anorexia, bingeing, and bulimia. Glaser shared how the societal pressures and the positive reinforcement of weight loss during her high school years contributed to an unhealthy relationship with food. After hospitalization for anorexia, she later grappled with binge-eating behaviors throughout her twenties.

Today, she credits a 12-step program for helping her establish a healthier relationship with food, stating, “I used to get really high off the feeling of hunger, and I do a lot of work to combat that now.” Glaser’s journey exemplifies resilience, and despite the challenges, she maintains that acceptance of her body, no matter its changing shape, has become a critical lesson throughout her experiences.

With the Golden Globes quickly approaching, fans and fellow comedians alike are eager to see how Glaser will bring her unique humor and perspective to one of Hollywood’s biggest nights. As she navigates the pressures of hosting while prioritizing her health, Nikki Glaser remains an inspiring figure in the entertainment industry.
